BOTOX, Dysport, Xeomin, & Daxxify
These injectables fall under neuromodulators or wrinkle relaxers. Neuromodulators are proteins that hinder communication between nerves and muscle cells. Muscular contraction and expansion depend on nerve impulses. Neuromodulators prevent these muscle movements and remove all signs of aging, such as wrinkles and fine lines.
BOTOX, Dysport, Xeomin, and Daxxify all contain a neuromodulating protein called Botulinum toxin type A, the same one that leads to Botulism. Worry not, however, because this protein is purified from any disease and is safe to use. This protein works by relaxing your muscle cells, weakening them, thus reducing the appearance of wrinkles.
BOTOX
BOTOX is the first of these three, and has been FDA-approved since 2002. It is the most tried and tested injectable neuromodulator, and contains trace amounts of albumin and sodium chloride. Some Botox side effects include headaches, excessive sweating, eyelid twitches, and cervical dystonia.
Dysport
Dysport is similar to BOTOX in function but not in dosage. It comes as a single-use, 300 or 500-unit vial. This means that your plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills may use more Dysport than BOTOX for the same injection site. It also tends to activate faster and last longer than Botox for some patients. Most people use the term BOTOX for similar products.
Xeomin
Xeomin is the most pure neuromodulator on the market today. It contains pure Botulinum, making it more effective for patients with high protein intolerance. Since it lacks any additives, it may work faster than both BOTOX and Dysport.
Daxxify
Daxxify is the newest neuromodulator on the market today. It contains a unique formulation that is more stable than other wrinkle relaxers, allowing it to last twice as long as other wrinkle relaxers, for up to 6-9 months.
All four have high efficacy, though BOTOX has been around for longer and is more trusted and popular. You can use any tool and still get the results you desire.
